Cowhide is a waste product from meat processing, and a quality leather item will last for many years. Especially thanks to our after-sales service, you can rely on our products for a long time.
However, we understand that some people may find cowhide leather uncomfortable, which is why we decided to create a VEGAN COLLECTION, where we use mostly pineapple leather and partly apple leather.
Piñatex® pineapple leather is made from pineapple leaf fibers. These leaves are considered a waste product of the pineapple harvest.
After the pineapple is harvested, the suitable leaves of the plant are collected in bundles and the long fibers are extracted using semi-automatic machines. The fibers are then washed and dried naturally in the sun or during the rainy season in drying rooms. The dried fibers undergo a cleaning process to remove any impurities, resulting in a fluff-like material. This fluff-like pineapple leaf fiber (PALF) is mixed with corn-based polylactic acid (PLA) and a mechanical process is used to create a non-woven mesh that forms the basis of all pineapple skins. Rolls of this base are shipped from the Philippines to Spain or Italy, where specialized processing is performed, where the face is dyed using GOTS-certified pigments and a top layer of resin is applied, which adds additional strength, durability and water resistance. This makes the material suitable for fashion accessories.
